Publicación Mobile Robot for the Spraying of Corn Crops with autonomous navigation camera for the Plains of the Andes(IEEE, 2019-11)The incidence of the disease in horticultural crops is one of the important problems that affect the production of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Regular monitoring of crops for early diagnosis and treatment with pesticides or removal of the affected crop is part of the solution to minimize crop loss. The monitoring of crops by human labor is expensive, time consuming, prone to errors due to insufficient knowledge of the disease and highly repetitive at different stages of crop growth. These needs have motivated to design the mobile robot with vision sensors for navigation through the field. The robot has been designed in the Autodesk Inventor software. Programming for navigation is done in the Arduino Mega 2560 tool. Image capture has been performed using the RGB camera. Image processing for the identification of the disease and its representation in a graphical user interface has been performed using an algorithm in MATLAB R2018B that interacts with the Arduino tool through a communication bus. The system developed consists of the design of a prototype that uses simple and cost effective equipment such as Raspberry Pi, RGB camera, two motors and sensors that allow the autonomous fumigation of corn crops. © 2019 IEEE. - Algunas de las métricas están bloqueadas por suconfiguración de consentimiento

Publicación Microbial and potentially toxic elements risk assessment in high Andean river water based on Monte Carlo simulation, Peru(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2023-12-06)The study evaluated microbial and Potentially Toxic Elements—PTEs risks in high Andean river water in Peru using Monte Carlo simulation. A total of 144 water samples were collected from four rivers and evaluated for physicochemical parameters, PTEs and bacterial pathogens. The microbial risk analysis for exposure to pathogens present in the water was based on the probability of occurrence of diseases associated with Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and enterococci. PTEs risk analysis was performed using a Monte Carlo simulation approach. The results showed that the highest microbial risk due to exposure to water contaminated by E. coli, P. aeruginosa and enterococci was recorded in the Miraflores and Chia rivers. Meanwhile, the analysis of carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk by PTEs in adults and children revealed that the Chia river presents a high risk of contamination by PTEs, especially the carcinogenic risk for children. The Monte Carlo simulation indicated a 56.16% and 94.85% probability of exceeding the limit value of 0.0001 for carcinogenic risk in adults and children, respectively. It can be concluded that children consuming the waters of the Chia river are potentially at risk of As toxicity. © 2023, The Author(s). - Algunas de las métricas están bloqueadas por suconfiguración de consentimiento
Publicación Personality traits and leadership styles of students: Evidence from Ecuador(LLC CPC Business Perspectives, 2024-01-11)The study aims to evaluate how personality traits affect transformational, transactional, and passive-avoidant leadership styles. It uses the quantitative approach with a non-experimental research design; the data were collected cross-sectionally, with a correlational-causal scope. The sample included 418 professionals studying MBA at private universities in Ecuador and working in private companies. Personality traits were measured with the Revised NEO-PI-R Personality Inventory, while the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) measured leadership styles through the survey. Data analysis included the use of correlations and multivariate regression models. The results show that openness to experience (β = 0.100*), extraversion (β = 0.217**), conscientiousness (β = 0.239**), and work experience (β = 0.086*) generated a positive and meaningful effect on transformational leadership. Neuroticism was also significant but with a negative standardized coefficient (β = –0.445**). Also, extraversion (β = 0.169**), conscientiousness (β = 0.303**), and work experience (β = 0.222**) had a positive and significant effect on transactional leadership; neuroticism was also significant but with a negative standardized coefficient (β = –0.243**). Finally, extraversion (β = –0.311**) and conscientiousness (β = –0.192**) had a negative and significant effect, and neuroticism (β = 0.451**) had a positive and significant effect on the passive-avoidant leadership style. © 2024 LLC CPC Business Perspectives. - Algunas de las métricas están bloqueadas por suconfiguración de consentimiento
